Dentist Mirna Bendek used to attend a Catholic School in Escuintla Guatemala when she was a child. Doctor Bendek and her husband Rudy are part of the professionals who serve people throughout the Tepeyac Mission. In 2003, after finishing the work for the Nutrition Center in Jacaltenango, the Community of Servants of the Sacred Heart and of the Poor invited the Director of The Tepeyac Mission to visit their Catholic School in the city of Escuintla, Guatemala. They needed some help in building a fence around the school, as they had been robbed several times. The few nuns living in that community were very afraid every night. The Director of the Mission returned to the US with the purpose of raising some money to help those consecrated sisters solve their safety problems. Doctor Bendek was approached to talk about the problem, and she was very excited to help the school of her infancy. She and her husband Rudy invited to their home for dinner some of their colleagues along with the Dentistry Doctors Victor and Sandra (RIP -1/2016) Matute. Several professionals attended that meeting and made pledges to send important help to the School. A big fence was built for a low cost of $12,000, plus other items the school needed at that time. United we can make a difference in the promotion of education and safety.
